Junior Curriculum

The MacKillop Catholic College Junior Years, inclusive of Years 7, 8 and 9 at MacKillop Catholic College, draws on the Catholic tradition where all members of our community are called to live by the vision statement,

In the junior years, literacy, numeracy and differentiation are priorities across all curriculum areas.

In Years 7 - 9 core subjects include:

In Years 7 and 8, all students study enrichment subjects for one semester:

  • Dance
  • Design and Technologies – Materials
  • Design and Technologies – Food
  • Digital Technologies

In Year 9, students may select electives subjects for one semester from the following areas:

  • Visual Arts
  • Music
  • Drama
  • Dance
  • Design and Technologies – Materials
  • Design and Technologies – Food
  • Digital Technologies
  • Outdoor Education
  • Health and Physical Education
  • LoTE - Japanese
  • Science

Classes are developed drawing on students’ backgrounds and abilities.  Teachers work collaboratively to develop rich learning experiences for all students.  Student engagement and learning potential are of high priority.
