Careers and Pathways

At MacKillop Catholic College, each individual student is encouraged to be aspirational in their career goals. Participation in lifelong learning that supports these career goals is facilitated via a range of programs, from Years 7-12. The Career and Pathways Program allows students to discover their potential, explore their career interests and link their learning to future success in life.

MacKillop Catholic College aims to use a blend of delivery methods for career education.  Embedding careers into the curriculum is broader than infusing careers into school subjects, although this is still important.  Career learning is integrated into the broader school timetable, subjects, pastoral care, ministry, and co-curricular.

Some aspects of the integration include:

Career Advising
Work experience in Years 10, 11 and 12
Job application and interview preparation
Career expos
Career excursions
Guest speakers from industry and the education/training sectors
Subject selection assistance in Years 8-12
Tertiary application assistance
Life, study and career management skills

Should students wish to access any of the above services or want to talk about potential pathways, they are encouraged to reach out to our Careers and Pathways Planning Advisor, Miss Sarah Gurney on sgurney@mackillop.tas.edu.au or follow the link on SEQTA notices to make a booking.

Parents and families with any questions about their child’s pathway options, subjects or general career enquiries are also welcome to reach out.

MacKillop Catholic College is located on the traditional homeland of the Mumirimina people of the Oyster Bay Nation who were born of, lived with, and cared for this land for many generations. We acknowledge the deep connection to Country and Culture of the custodians of this place, the Palawa / Pakana of lutruwita. We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community and pay our respect to Elders past and present. We are committed to learning alongside the children we teach in this place, and the community that we form a part of, to support the continued sharing of knowledge and Culture.
